>> reporter: good morning to you, jon. president barack obama will take off on air force one in just a few hours from now, as you mentioned, here from sfo leaving with a new bundle of cash for his re-election campaign, hoping that will help him beat back some of the bad news he's been seeing in the polls lately after what was generally considered a poor showing during last week's debate with governor mitt romney. the president arrived yesterday afternoon. by late last night he had already raised almost $4 million. this was through three different fund-raisers. the first at the intercontinental hotel in san francisco. that's where he is staying overnight. 25 people paid $40,000 to see him there. then mr. obama had dinner at the bill graham civic auditorium. there were 100 supporters who paid $20,000 a plate. then later in the evening you can hear the roar of the crowd, 6,000 supporters inside the auditorium paid to hear live music and also hear the president speak. during his speech he criticized governor mitt romney, arguing his opponent doesn't care about 47% of the country.

big-time candidates. >> the commander in chief vibe all over northern california. christina, what kind of weather is the president waking up to? >> winning weather. that's what we're looking at at least when it comes to the a's and the giants. i bet you the president is an oakland a's or giants fan. good morning to you. 6:47. could have got in trouble with that one. taking a live picture from high atop san bruno mountain, you can see the sun is coming up this morning over the beautiful bay area. what a way to kick off a tuesday. still going to get a fabulous sunrise with midlevel clouds moving in courtesy of an area of low pressure. it's going to bring in some shower. we'll tell you when coming up. 57 at oakland, 50 in sunshiny veil and good morning to you in santa cruz. you can clearly see we've got two areas of low pressure. counterclockwise flow. the first one has been cut off from the jetstream. the other one is attached to the

jetstream. through the next 48 hours this second system will nudge this stubborn area of low pressure finally right down the california coastline so we are expecting very light activity the second half of the day. but the temperatures that we are expecting will feel like fall. san francisco at 67 degrees. 72 for redwood city and right around 68 degrees down in santa cruz. let's get right to it. those giants taking on the red. not here, they'll be in cincinnati. but weather will likely come into play. no roof out there at the great american ballpark. what we're expecting is the wind to pick up. wind that will likely carry that ball right down the third baseline. we could be looking at a lot of foul balls as winds come into play. the giants need your love, the a's need your love. 74 degrees by wednesday. we'll be in the 60s on thursday and warming you up just in time for the weekend. let's check your drive with mike. >> you know what, the south bay could use a little love as well. we have all of this, folks. northbound 101 really showing a

good bogdown just north of 680 from capital all the way up to the airport. that's a pretty standard build. also right here, we have wwe smackdown going on downtown, but smackdown up into downtown as well. north 85 shows slowing all the way to saratoga. slowing also through palo alto. the construction crews cleared there but we do have slowing in both directions toward university. north 101 just jammed up coming up through san bruno. at millbrae avenue they have cleared the last of that construction, two lanes were blocked. now we see speeds recovering by sfo. good morning, mr. president. thank you for watching. we're looking over to the east bay where we do have some slowing as well. south 880 at marina, the accident to the shoulder causing more slowing for that distraction. also a disabled vehicle north 238 causes more backup off west 580 and the castro valley y, look at all this construction. we're looking at the bay bridge

pledded guilty to misdemeanor false imprisonment tied to a new year's eve argument with his wife, who ended up with a bruised arm. the couple has since reunited and said that the whole thing was politically motivated. yesterday antidomestic groups rallied against mirkarimi saying he's unfit to hold the job. today supporters have their turn. they believe that removing him would be a setback for voters' rights. they plan to rally at noon today at the steps of city hall before the supervisors meet at 2:00. reporting live in san francisco, christie smith, "today in the bay." this morning a former football coach turned convicted pedophile will be learning his fate. jerry sandusky being sentenced for abusing ten boys over 15 years, an now he is speaking out. danielle lee is live at the centre county courthouse in bellefonte, pennsylvania, where sandusky is still to this day p proclaiming his innocence. good morning.
6:52 am
>> reporter: good morning, jon. the sentencing has just begun a little over 30 minutes ago. everyone is in their places. just before we saw sandusky brought in through a back door in cuffs and also a prison jumpsuit. he's expected to make a statement today an we're getting a glimpse of what he may see because of a last-minute statement that he made on penn state radio just hours ahead of this hearing last night. take a listen to just a piece of what he had to say during that statement. >> the young man who's dramatic, a veteran accuser and always sought attention, started everything. >> reporter: and that is what he is saying of the accusers who spoke and testified during that trial. six of the eight victims are expected to speak again today as well as jerry sandusky who's expected to make another statement proclaiming his innocence and vowing to fight whatever sentence he receives. he could get anywhere from 60 to 400 years in prison but he and his attorney are already working on an appeal.

>> that preview causing absolute chaos on twitter this morning. an apple engineer pointing out this morning we're getting the same sort of treatment here in silicon valley that italian americans got for "jersey shore." to that i would add southerners by honey boo boo. i used to live about 25 miles from the boo boo family in make on, georgia. i guarantee you, southerners nothing like that either. >> let's just hope we don't have any snooki here in silicon valley. let's move to baseball now. it is do or be done time for both bay area baseball teams. time to get it on. >> the giants and a's starting out their postseason push with two losses. comcast sportsnet bay area's scott reese is live in cincinnati where the giants are looking for redemption against those reds, but we begin with jim kozimor live at the oakland coliseum where the a's are trying to recapture their hot streak. jim, good morning. >> reporter: marla and jon, good

morning. the best reality all time, it's live sports. it goes on here and the a's are hoping for a jwoww this evening as 36,000 fans are expected inside the coliseum for a must-win game three. a's and tigers go at it. for the a's, it seems pretty simple, you've got to win all three. take a look at what al albuquerque did in a play in which a ball was bounced back. he fields the ball and then gives the ball a smooch, a big, fat kiss before recording the out. many a's considered it a show of disrespect. tigers manager jim leyland saying no disrespect was meant but that shouldn't appear in major league baseball. we'll see if the a's remember that should he take the mound in a relief role in game three tonight. in the coliseum this evening, about 11 hours and counting,

vogelsong and homer bailey. of course vogelsong's story has been well documented. his reclamation from the baseball scrap heap two years ago has been nothing short of awesome and that will be his first career playoff start. meanwhile homer bailey was terrific away from cincinnati this year, but much, much more pedestrian at home. he's a fly ball pitcher and a fly ball ball posh, great american ballpark. we'll see how it all plays out tonight. game time at 5:37 local time, that's 2:37 back on the west coast. we'll have blanket pregame and postgame coverage other an comcast sportsnet bay area. for now scott reese in cincinnati. jon and marla, back to you. >> thank you, scott. october quest. >> i like it. it might be blanket weather in oakland for some of the people watching the ball game. christina loren will give us a final look at the forecast. >> let me show you this sunrise. this is looking very optimistic for the oakland a's and of
